Gauthier says not to expect a goaltender trade this season. He claimed the position is one that is highly coveted in today's NHL and it was important for them to be very strong in that position. He's happy with the team's performance and the situation they are in with their goaltenders. Don't say never, but he plans on moving forward with both Price and Halak for the time being. So if anything gets done it won't be until after the Olympics...if anything gets done at all.

I'f I'm Montreal, I trade one of them. They need some help up front, especially if Plekanec walks on July 1st. I don't really watch the Habs, but judging the numbers, Gomez/Gionta have been a disappointment thus far. Cammalerri's really their only real scoring threat. Kind of like Kessel in Toronto. Trading one of their goalies will get help in that department.

I'f I'm Dallas, I'm dying to get one of Halak or Price. It's a perfect fit.

The problem with Gionta is that he was injured. The problem with Gomez is his contract. Both have played well enough. The first priority is to re-sign plekanec NOW. On July 1st, his pricetag will be too high. Let Hamrlik, Spacek, Metropolit walk and get Richards or try again to get Vinny via trade involving the K brothers. Our kid D men are ready to come up and free enough money for either of those two guys.

Wishfull thinking, i guess.

Gauthier will be a tool if he doesn't deal one of them.

Honest to God if I see another deadline pass without us making use of trading some form of asset I will just freak out.
We have 4 goalies right now. Two starters and two backups.

Halak
Price
Sanford
Desjardin

If we deal one of either Price or Halak, Sanford comes up to back them up for the remainder of the season, giving the reins(which are already his) to Desjardin in the AHL. Come free agency, Sanford walks and we use Desjardin as back up.He is NHL ready in my opinion, so we could see him next year. but if management decides he should still get the lion share of games, we keep him in the AHL  and sign a cheap vet to back up the kept goalie. The Birons of the world or someone of that ilk.

Bingo. You can't let Halak walk July 1st. You won't get a return for him at the draft. Unless he's planning on moving Price at the draft or in the offseason. Halak isn't likely to stick around, in my opinion, with Price still in Montreal. Two young goaltenders is great, until you don't have enough money or playing time to entice both to stick around.

If he's dealt it will be for Turco i think, since Price was suppose to be the new franchise goalie ( and has stumbled doing so), I think the Habs would want to go and make a deal that would surprize everyone.

Soooo.... why exactly would they do this? Halak would be the starter, Turco would walk, and they would have gotten nothing for Price.

That makes no sense.

Whu would we take a UFA goalie, for a potential franchise goalie.

Turco + alot  more for Price

No their is a large difference. Both goalies are either UFA or RFA this season. Only Toskala was for the other deal. Price is a young upcoming goalie, while Turco is a struggling vet. Both Giguere and Toskala were struggling vets. As well, if we traded Price for a struggling goalie who we are just going to let walk at July 1st, then what is the point? I mean we are trading either Halak/Price so that we can give the remaining one playing time. Turco coming in will do what for us?

and you really think Price is up and coming ? when you come from the juniors especailly when your a 1st round 5th overall your expected to be good NOW, not like 5 years later, come on really ? you don't think both goalies are struggling he has a record of 11-17.
