last year before the deadline Tampa offered their first for Schenn, when they were still in playoff contention

So essentially we could have had Duchene or Hedman for Schenn? Instead we got Kadri and still have Schenn. I'm ok with that. Or we could have had Kadri and Duchene? Taken someone else, who knows. Hopefully the team can improve enough for the rest of the season to spoil some playoff hopes and jump out of the lottery.

we could have had Duchene and Kadri insteado of Schenn and Kadri

I'm ok with that. I still think Schenn will be a very effective defenseman. Seriously... imagine a playoff stop pairing of Schenn and Phaneuf?

that would be scary... just the thought that at any given moment in a game, at least one of phaneuf, schenn, or komisarek could be on the ice... this team just got more truculent!

I'm a Leaf fan, and I've never said Phaneuf sucks. I said last season he had a bad year, and he seems to have turned it around a bit this season. I've never said he sucks. Actually, the only people I've seen on here say he sucks are Nucks and Zealot (may be putting words in his mouth out that one, but I'm fairly certain he said something like that at some point).

Phaneuf would be a bust in Toronto in a year and half. The media would get in his hair and never leave, driving him crazy. They'd be speculating about his feuds with so-and-so every week, and his play would suffer even worse. The scrutiny would only make him worse.

Add in the fact that he'd be now playing in the East, having to deal with the offensive talents of OV, Malkin, Staal, Crosby, Green, Backstrom, Stamkos, St. Loius, Kovy, Gaborik, Spezza etc. etc on consistent basis, and Phaneuf would be exposed and even more terrible.

Yea. I'm still not a fan of Dion, I - like a lot of other people - thought he was A HUGE douche in Calgary.

But what can I do as a fan now? The only thing I can do is hope Dion can change the attitude that he had in Calgary. Now that he's in Toronto, I can only hope Dion succeeds. If he plays well and changes for the better, then maybe I can come around to him.

Will I cheer particular hard for Dion? I won't be his fan, but I'm not going to express hatred for him when he scores for Toronto or plays well. I don't want him to fail and make Toronto worse, that's for sure.

I am both an Oilers fan, and a Leafs fan. It's tough these days.

I guess the day the two meet in the Cup Finals would be the day I figure out which team is my true blue.

But until that day (if I ever see it happen), I will always cheer for both.

I've wanted Phaneuf in a Leafs uniform ever since he played for Team Canada in the Juniors. I've cheered for him when he was with Calgary, and even moreso now that he's with us (Leafs).
